Fighter has found itself in a decent position after an extended four-day weekend. When the film opened to Rs. 24.60 crores on Thursday, one wondered where it would stand eventually since it was prudent that a big jump comes on Friday and then Sunday. Thankfully, on Friday it ended up exceeding expectations by going past the Rs. 40 crores mark and then on Sunday too, the film found itself in the early 30s. In between, Saturday collections were stable, albeit in the late 20s.
With Rs. 30.20 crores coming on Sunday, the stage has now been set where good weekdays can take the film through. For that, the beginning point is of course Monday and at the very minimum, a score of over Rs. 13-14 crores need to come. If one looks at it from the viewpoint that Thursday was as it is just about okay, then this hold would be really crucial. However, the other point of view is that due to an extended weekend punctuated by a big national holiday, a much larger quantum of audience base has already watched the film and hence there could be potentially a larger than usual drop.
The film has so far scored Rs. 123.60 crores at the box office and Rs. 200 Crores Club won’t be reached in its extended Week One itself. Reason being that this would have required Monday to be much ahead of the Rs. 15 crores mark and then stay around daily drops of not more than 10% till Thursday. This won’t happen though. That said, Rs. 200 crores are there for the taking and this will happen in the second weekend. Of course, records sound much better when scored during those weekends and first weeks, and one just hopes that it happens indeed for this Siddharth Anand film in the first 10 days at least.
Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
