A 5,000-litre water tanker, which used to cost Rs 500, is now being sold for Rs 2,000.

The commendable initiative, led by the Karnataka Dhruva Sarja Fans Association, has brought substantial relief to the residents, offering a crucial reprieve.

In one of those few instances where a reel-life hero turns into a real-life hero, Kannada star Dhruva Sarja took on a responsibility beyond that of the silver screen which is providing the people of Bengaluru relief from the severe water crisis they are facing. Since the beginning of March, water problems have surfaced in many areas of Bengaluru. Due to lack of water, people have to pay double to buy water and in many areas, people are struggling without water for days at a stretch.

As per a report in Suvarna News, Dhruva Sarja has now supplied drinking water to many individuals affected by the water crisis in the Kengeri region. Fans of the star are using tankers to distribute water and it was a common sight on March 6 to see men filling in gallons of water in drums brought in by residents on the actor’s instructions.

The commendable initiative, led by the Karnataka Dhruva Sarja Fans Association, has brought substantial relief to the residents, offering a crucial reprieve. The escalating water crisis has forced people in the region to pay exorbitant amounts for water tankers. Previously, a 5,000-litre water tanker, which used to cost Rs 500 in the city, is now being sold for Rs 2,000.

In addressing the crisis, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar stated, “Out of the 3,500 water tankers in Bengaluru, only 219, approximately 10 per cent, are currently registered with the BBMP and about 210 are utilised by the BWSSB for water supply. Once private tankers are officially registered, the government will establish rates based on the distance from the water source. The legal framework emphasises that water is a public resource belonging to the government and is not considered a personal asset. I plan to conduct a meeting with the tanker owners’ association post-March 7 to establish the rates.”

On the work front, Dhruva Sarja, popularly dubbed ‘Action Prince’ by his fans has just finished shooting for Martin. Martin is directed by AP Arjun and does not have a release date yet.
